R6: Ryan Reynolds



Many Actor and Actresses are able to use social media platforms as a way to promote their celebrity through things such as Twitter. Ryan Reynolds is an American actor with a whopping 5.18 million followers on his twitter account in which he uses in order to maintain his celebrity in a social media form. He is known on twitter as being unfiltered as he shares personal insights on the things that are going on in his life giving an interesting perspective on his behind the movie screen life. “The microblogging site Twitter lets people post quick 140-character updates, or ‘tweets’, to a network of followers. Twitter asks participants ‘What’s happening?’ resulting in a constantly-updated stream of short messages ranging from the mundane to breaking news, shared links, and thoughts on life.” (Marwik and Boyd, 2011) By Ryan Reynolds effort to promote his interaction with fans as well as other celebrities he is able to develop his authenticity and form an intimacy on this platform.




In the above tweet Reynolds is able to share an image from the movie he stars in Deadpool, which allows for followers to get insight on what is to come through his account. Reynolds is able to promote his celebrity through social media by the sharing insight of the given film, or of trailers and images of upcoming movies he is starring in as well as giving his personal response to the given tweet. By doing this it makes his persona seem very authentic as it is generally an unfiltered take on the given tweet. 




Ryan Reynolds is known for having a big sense of humor as he often interacts with followers and other celebrities in a joking manor which invokes his authenticity through Twitter. This gives Reynolds position on Twitter of being a celebrity intimate in the fact that he does indeed interact with his followers and through his sense of humor is able to form a connection to the masses. By this tweet being retweeted 841 times it shows how his celebrity is able to be shared on a large scale.
