Reflection #2

Your Business Can Be Boring But Your Marketing Can't

The article that caught my attention was “Your Business Can Be Boring But Your Marketing Can't, by Josh Steimle, this article is elaborating on examples of other company strategies, that others try to emulate. Steimle also compares some important companies such as Tesla, Oculus and Virgin Galactic and Lucid Software. He also discusses the fact that, “because these companies don't have a built-in marketing advantage, they companies have to get creative if they want the media to shower them with love.” (Stiemle) As Kaplan and Haenlein state in their piece about “User of the World, unite! The challenges and opportunities of social media”, “Collaborative projects enable the joint and simultaneous creation of content by many end-users and are, in this sense, probably the most dramatic manifestations of UGC.” (Kaplan, Haenlein). Meaning in this modern-day era, if your business lacks innovation, and creativity, your business will fail big time. The young entrepreneur wants to skip steps, because he thinks it’s a race to the finish, which is not the right way of running a business.

The following are my tips for a successful business strategy:

1)    Being innovative and bringing in new business techniques that will enhance the company. Thinking about your audience will get you far.

2)    Targeting the proper audiences, in multiple ways will be essential. Making a user-friendly website will also help attract more attention.

3)    Gathering essential information such as statistics, and analytics is key for any business.

4)    Looking closely at strategies used by the competition.

5)    Building the foundation first is important because in every business there always needs to be a base. Making smart decisions will propel you to stardom.

6)    Keeping up to date on the latest trends that appear on social media in terms of business model, design, or on how a business runs.
